Over a thousand jobs in Region 8 available in Virtual Career Fair over Labor Day weekend
At least 1,269 positions were opened for pandemic-affected job seekers in Eastern Visayas this Labor Day.
According to Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Regional Director Henry John Jalbuena, 20 employers in Region 8 have been participating in the three-day online job fair organized by the Department in collaboration with JobStreet, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
DOLE released the link to the Virtual Career Fair last month. Online registration started on April 22.
Electricians, pilots, salesmen, merchandisers, management trainees, coaches, spa therapists, cashiers, riders, and marketing assistants are among the work openings for Eastern Visayans this May 1 to 3, 2021.
Nurses, beauticians, heavy machinery technicians, chefs, factory employees, dressmakers, and computer operators are among the overseas occupations available.

Jalbuena invited interested job seekers, especially those who had lost their jobs due to the pandemic, to participate in this virtual job fair. “I highly encourage our job seekers to join the online job fair and get the chance to be employed. We will be doing it online due to the pandemic, but I hope you will all maximize the benefits of the event”, he said.
Pre-registration is required. Anyone with a personal device, including a smart phone, can look for jobs in the site as long as they have an internet connection.
Nationwide digital job fair
On the first day alone, employers throughout the country that participated in the job fair received 58,000 applications.
The total number of hired-on-the-spot (HOTS) staff hit 238. A total of 3,141 were considered near-hires or applicants who may be recruited but must provide extra or missing qualifications or requirements, or may undergo further interviews or examinations.
A total of 665 employers joined the fair offering a total of 52,461 job openings with 44,724 local jobs and 7,737 oversees job opportunities.
